Katie Thornett was 11 when she joined a Bigfoot summer schools programme for kids on Free School meals (FSM) in 2005. After this she then went on to Britiains Got Talent on TV. Now hailed as the new Duffy she has since launched a solo singing career.

Bigfoot's summer schools aim to inspire children and young people to achieve excellence. It is our goal to enable each participant to find their spark and give them something to hold on to and nurture so that they can have the confidence to persue their dreams, no matter what they want to be in life.

This year the government has announced extra funding for secondary schools to enable yr6 children to attend Transition Summer Schools. There is no reason that any secondary school should ignore this amazing opportunity. The ability to trasform the lives of children who are extremely vulnerable at this stage in their journey through school does not come often.

Please ensure you apply and please make sure you use an organisation who can deliver some high quality creative provision in your area.
